Takes a bit of getting used to as first cycling pedals, but quickly familiar and the best choice for me!

- Sabine 3 April 2026

Biking with real cycling pedals for the first time took some getting used to, but fortunately that feeling disappeared quickly. After just a few rides, it felt familiar and I immediately noticed the difference in efficiency and control. I had carefully picked out in advance which pedals would suit me best, and the Shimano PD-R550 turned out to be an excellent choice. They offer a fine balance between price and quality, click in and out smoothly, and give a stable feeling while biking. An ideal entry into using SPD-SL pedals. Definitely recommended for novice cyclists looking to make the switch to click pedals.

Pros & Cons

Good price-quality ratio
Smooth clicks in and out

Good value for money

- Edward 31 October 2025

Fine pedal, I'm not a top athlete and it all doesn't have to be super light but it has to be good and that's where this product has an excellent price/quality ratio. Have also held the more expensive models in my hand but find that too expensive for my cycling activities. Pedals can also be adjusted well to click in/out easily and quickly otherwise no fuss. Have had the R500 and the 105 (cheaper/more expensive) variant on my previous bikes but don't notice any difference.

Pros & Cons
